Are prebiotics useful or needed with ProBiora oral probiotics?

Prebiotics are compounds that help enhance probiotic growth and attachment in a target body area. Prebiotics are typically administered in combination with or immediately before taking a probiotic when needed; however, a good probiotic strain will work in the target body area regardless of whether or not a prebiotic is included. Prebiotics are not needed when the probiotic strains can colonize on their own; this is generally the case when probiotic strains have been directly isolated from the target area in question.
This is the case for ProBiora: our strains were isolated from the teeth and gums thus they are able to colonize and provide benefits to the teeth and gums without the need for an additional prebiotic. ProBiora3® strains can attach to the teeth and gums, grow in the oral cavity, and compete with other bacterial pathogens without the need for a prebiotic since the oral cavity is their native environment. You should always try to use probiotics isolated from the body area of their intended use to ensure they can survive and thrive to provide the specified benefits (in our case, teeth whitening, breath freshening, and balancing the oral microbiome).
